Creating a Culture of Connection

LogicGate Office

Most companies create mission, vision, and value statements. Some print them on posters and hang them around the office. Others slap them on slides shared out at all-staff meetings. But one thing that makes LogicGate unique is that our values are truly part of our everyday routines.

So, earlier this year when we, like many other companies, were trying to transition the whole LogicGate team to a fully remote environment, we were worried about what that would mean for our company culture. We were no longer able to enjoy work events together, harness the collaboration and friendship that happens when you’re in the same space, and experience that feeling of being connected. Not long after we closed our office and had everyone working remotely, we held our very first talent show for all employees to participate and watch virtually. Employees sang, played instruments, recited poetry, and so much more. Everyone was engaged and our employees said that it was one of the best events we have ever had—even though we were all virtual. It was so successful that we are now planning our second talent show happening this December!

This example of adaptability, creativity, and support for each other is all part of why I enjoy being the Director of People Success at LogicGate. We prioritize listening to our employees, thinking about ways to support them in the world beyond our office, and are doing the work to ensure we’re creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone. When we won the award for Top Workplaces 2020 from The Chicago Tribune it was an incredibly validating experience. Not only because this award is based solely on employee feedback and represents the work that we’ve done, but because it inspires me for what’s next. We’re continuing to find ways to uplift and elevate the voices of our employees, be proactive in identifying ways we can create an environment for everyone to be themselves, and gather continuous feedback so we can take action when needed.

It’s an honor to be recognized as one of “Chicago’s Top Workplaces” and I’m so excited to see what this next year will bring for LogicGate and our amazing team.
